A breath of fresh Pine on the airwaves

Courtney Pine

Britain’s leading jazz saxophonist Courtney Pine turns the spotlight on the current jazz scene in the weekly Courtney Pine Experience. Broadcast every Sunday evening at 9pm, on fledging jazz radio station, www.thejazz.com The Courtney Pine Experience will also feature Courtney’s pick of the week’s gigs. As well as playing the saxophone, Pine is an accomplished flautist, clarinettist and pianist. He was awarded an OBE in 2000 for services to jazz. He has also been honoured with a Gold Badge Award from the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters and a Fellowship to The Leeds College of Music. In December 2005 he was also made an honorary doctor of music by the University of Westminster in London.

Courtney now has two radio shows on air – ( the hugely successful Jazz Crusade on BBC Radio 2 resumes on April 17th at the later time of 10:30pm)

It’s been a while since there’s been this much potentiality for new jazz music to be played and heard. I’m looking forward to giving Courtney’s new show and the new jazz station www.thejazz.com my full support. Tune in!
