but for now I load Danelle’s EP into Itunes, and the next thing I knew I’m slapping away on my bass alongside Only Human - To The Steeple Mix. It’s been a veeeery long time since I’ve been moved to remix a tune, but Danelle’s Only Humanmay get the jazzreloaded treatment.

I think Only Human is the killer cut on the EP - it reminds you that in this crazy hectic digital rat race, where only the fat cat want to play, only human is all you need to be.

Muddy Water comes a close second. It is a heart wrenching tune with the lyrical strength of a Noel Gallagher tune but ( thankfully!) with Jamelia’s kind of attitude and projection.  A singer without Danelle’s honesty history and passion would not be able to pull it off, protracting the melody lines in a way that is haunting but still full of girl power ( but in the Tina Turner sense, not the Atomic Kitten sense!)

Danelle does a fair bit of writing for other top pop acts, and on Love RevolutionI can hear a sense  that she’s written a lot of the tunes with one eye on signing a deal that will see the next teenybopper breakthough pop sensation bouncing up and down the stage and  into the top 20  on the back of Danelle’s lyrics. 
I for one would dearly love to see Danelle perform her own material with her own band.  I think she would have a lot of fun with them, and vice versa.

Being an straight ahead jazz kinda guy, I was a bit surprised at how much I enjoyed this EP, but make no mistake; this is a good old fashioned soulful pop album, and it is excellent fun. 

 Recommended if you like:  buying fairtrade products,  Jamelia, Oasis, sugagbaes, girl power!
